Hamburg Stag Weekends

Germany's second city, Hamburg is unfairly overlooked when it comes to having a stag do abroad, but a place which has a designated red light district as one of its main features and on top of that, loves great beer, is surely a top destination for any group of stags. This city is also far more dynamic and multicultural than you would expect; Hamburg has a laid-back attitude which will be confusing for some – well it is a German city after all. For an alternative stag weekend idea in Hamburg, make sure you head to the banks of the River Elbe which has artificial beaches, ideal for chilling out on during the afternoon...or sleeping off some beers.

About Hamburg

The Reeperbahn, the heart of the St Pauli red light district, is one of the unmissable things to do on a lads weekend, known as 'the sinful mile,' you needn't ask why it is a must do for any self-respecting stag party. Hamburg certainly has the ability to pull out all the stops for your group; all you have to do is make the most of this top destination. The city should definitely get an award for its standard of beer as it is simply top class.

You don't have to be in the St Pauli area to enjoy yourselves though; the city has a great nightlife with top bars and nightclubs for those looking for a wild stag night out on the town. As you might expect, the food is quality too...after all, they did invent the cornerstone of American cuisine - the hamburger. Curiously the people of Hamburg are known as hamburgers, which could lead to some awkward scenarios but don't worry the Germans would undoubtedly find it hilarious as confusion is the height of comedy - each to their own.

Fischmarkt (fish market)

The 300 year old traditional fish market is very famous and attracts hundreds of visitors each Sunday starting in the early morning hours. It is impossible to imagine this happening without the numerous market criers noisily praising their wares and goods. Besides them, you'll find loads of party people just leaving the clubs of the city as the market offers not only seafood but also some live music, kind of an after hour party for everyone.

20up Skybar at the Empire Riverside Hotel

The name Skybar says it all. Being located at the 20th floor of the Empire Riverside Hotel it guarantees an amazing view over the city and the harbour, especially to enjoy the sunset. The bar attracts mainly business people, it is therefore recommended to dress appropriately for a visit.

Hamburg Harbour

A walk along the waterfront at the harbour shouldn't be left out on any trip to Hamburg. A beautiful view, lovely seafood restaurants and the elegant architecture make “Germany's Gateway to the World“ an awesome experience.

The Stage Club

A great jazz bar that regularly stages live music gigs. From swing to modern jazz, you'll hear all the different styles here. What I like about the club is the high quality sound. Also it's easily accessible being located in the city centre.

The Reeperbahn is cult and you shouldn't miss it! The famous red light district is not only for those who are interested in strip clubs, there's just so much going on and all night long!
