Red7 , February 10, 2014
2014 is set to be a massive year for sport. The 6 Nations are just getting under way and the excitement that was the Superbowl spectacular kept us all up way past our bed times. The world is holding it’s breath for The Rio World Cup, the Ryder Cup is returning to the home of golf, Scotland, and Glasgow is hosting the Commonwealth Games. And to top it all off, the controversial Winter Olympics kicked off this weekend. We can hardly contain ourselves.
With all this going on, sports fans can’t be content to just watch on passively from the sofa or crouch around the usual corner of the bar at your local pub. Magnificent, history-making sport deserves only the best viewing conditions. Swap your boring plate of chips for a rack of smoked ribs and that watery lager for a cold bottle of fine craft beer. London’s best sports bars have polished their flat screens and stocked the fridges. Sports fans, we’re going on a journey in 2014…

Bar Kick, Shoreditch High St, London, E1 6JH
Bar Kick is a unique venue on Shoreditch High Street with an obsession for table football and live sports. Bar Kick has 14 proper French bonzini football tables with cast iron players and world cup footballs. The atmosphere in Bar Kick is electric when there’s a big sporting event on like the Winter Olympics, the Champions League or the 6 Nations, when lots of different nationalities come together to watch the action and enjoy the ridiculously cheap happy hour. It’s the ideal place for a lively half time table football tournament. All 3D matches are shown in the basement.
Clapham Grand, 21-25 St John’s Hill, Clapham Junction, London, SW11 1TT
Clapham Grand has the largest sport screen in the UK (24×15 feet) with stadium-like seating and six other big screens so you and the lads don’t miss any of the action. The Clapham Grand also doubles as a boxing venue with regular fight nights and it transforms into a nightclub after hours. However, sports fans come for the massive screen, cheap pints and macho atmosphere, making it an exceptional venue for a big lads day out.
Proud Camden, The Horse Hospital, Stables Market, Camden Town, NW1 8AH
Got something particular to celebrate? Proud Camden is a Grade II listed old horse hospital in Camden which has been renovated to make a stylish, modern venue with heaps of character. We highly recommend booking a private stable for your mates to watch the big game on a private flat screen and lovely hostesses to bring you buckets of beer. After a riotous afternoon of live sport, celebrate into the night as the venue transforms into a notoriously cool live music and DJ venue with an outdoor terrace overlooking the canal. Watching live sport in London has never been so cool.
Rileys Sports Bar Haymarket, 80 Haymarket, London, SW1Y 4TE
Most of us are familiar with the Rileys sports bar chain, but unfortunately not all of us have watched a match in this one. With 34 screens on the walls and one big screen covering 70 channels, the lads could only escape the action with their eyes closed. Keep yourselves entertained at half time with the excellent American style menu – the wings are awesome – and get competitive over the 5 pool tables and a ping pong table. Think of Rileys like London’s adult playground or sports fans.

Famous 3 Kings, 171 North End Road, Fulham, London, W14 9NL
The Famous 3 Kings really is one of the most well known live sports pubs in London. The pub is just a stone’s throw away from the Chelsea FC stadium, so as well as having an incredible atmosphere, flowing beer and good old traditional pub grub, this pub has learned to do live sports very well to keep its own fans happy. The pub has several rooms with big screens and can show over 71,00 different channels to ensure you and the lads won’t miss your match.
Bodean’s BBQ Soho, 10 Poland St, London, W1F 8PZ
Bodeans BBQ will always be the winners when it comes to food, atmosphere and some rather tasty American craft beers. The chain is the reigning king of Tex Mex in London, boasting its own oak burning smoke pit to deliver mouth watering shrimp, pulled pork and enormous whole racks of ribs. You can’t go amiss with a steaming bowl of their chilli or clam chowder either. Bodeans shows mainly American sports like American Football, College basketball and EPL, but always have the Premiership and Champions League on the screens.
