Between Christmas and St.Valentine’s Day, it’s estimated that 100,000 people get engaged in the UK; we’ve chosen our top sparklers this season for those planning to pop the Big Question and need some inspiration, whatever your budget and tastes! (We also experience a huge serge in demand for Engagement Parties, Hen Dos and Stag weekends in January-March as these happy couples get to work planning their celebrations!)

Rings on the left ring finger have symbolised LOVE since 2800 BC. The ancient Egyptians believed that the left ring finger was directly connected to the heart by the love vein (Vena Amoris).

In 1867, an enormous diamond mine in South Africa increased the availability of diamonds almost over-night. . Cecil Rhodes arrived in South Africa in 1873 and his ‘DeBeers Mining Company’ soon controlled 90 percent of the World’s diamond production. Their clever marketing department introduced the DeBeers company slogan “A Diamond is Forever” in 1947 and within a few years the diamond engagement ring was the most popular choice for engaged couples. It is considered to be one of the most ingenious marketing campaigns ever created.
