Everyone at a stag party knows that the soon-to-be-groom is set for a stitch up of some kind. In fact, it just wouldn’t be the same without one. In the past it used to be getting the stag in his birthday suit and handcuffing or tying him to a lamppost, or some other unfavourable cruelty, with the stag either unconscious with drink or unfathomably angry at his supposed friends. Sometimes this can go too far and problems arise, like the fellow in the news recently who was kidnapped by his mates and was so traumatised by the events he developed shingles! As long as the stag’s safety is at the heart of things and all is in good sport then the prank is an unmissable and often hilarious highlight of the celebrations.
Take these guys in Norway – whilst playing on the stag’s fear of heights and using their sacred right to play cruel tricks on him during the stag do, they have brilliantly encapsulated the prank in all its glory. Not for them the tired old mankini routine, this slightly harsh but original stag do idea, that will not hurt the stag in any way, or at least only his pride. The best man had only been asked one thing by the groom: to not skydive or bungee jump as he is terrified of heights. Yet the groom finds himself unwittingly put atop a ‘bridge’ about to do a bungee jump, but what he doesn’t realise is that he is only feet away from the water, and even more humiliating is that it is a child’s paddling pool. The trepidation in the stag’s movements ensures the laughs as you can see he is clearly horrified at the thought of jumping. What ensues is amazing…no wonder it has gone viral and been seen by over a million people!
