Us Britons are well renowned for being leaders in the world’s fashion pack, and our high streets are a veritable treasure trove when it comes to finding amazing bargain fashion finds. From high street favourite chains like Zara and Topshop, to droves of vintage and boutique lovelies all over the UK, it’s no wonder that shopping until you drop is on many a hen party agenda.
If you’re savvy enough to book a UK city break for your hen do, we’ve got a handy guide to some of the UK’s best shopping destinations right on your doorstep, for the ultimate girls day out. You might pick up a few fashion goodies for the wedding too!
London is the indisputable Queen of shopping in the UK, with every area boasting a unique shopping experience, and so many of them that we can’t possibly list them all. Oxford Street and Regent Street are home to every high street store imaginable, and the nearby iconic Carnaby Street is perfect for finding some unique boutiques and heritage brands with it’s nostalgic 60s vibe. The Westfield shopping centres in Shepherds Bush and Stratford are the largest in Europe, and bursting with bars and restaurants to boot, ideal for a cheeky glass of wine with the girls on a London hen party. For something a little different head to Shoreditch, where the vintage and boutique Mecca of Brick Lane can be found. Just down the road is the UK’s first pop up shopping centre, Boxpark, where the unique and seriously trendy stores are constantly changing, so each visit offers something new.
Glasgow has earned it’s reputation for being one of the UK’s best shopping destinations outside of London, thanks to the deservedly notorious ‘Style Mile,’ referring to the fashionista’s paradise in the centre of the city. Shopping in Glasgow is high fashion and rather refined. Princes Square shopping centre is comprised of a large collection of specialist and upmarket stores including French Connection and Vivienne Westwood, and the nearby Ingram Street is lined with exclusive luxury fashion retailers. The historic Argyll Galleries are the place to shop for beautiful jewellery in beautiful surroundings, as it’s home to over 30 jewellers and diamond merchants. Top off a seriously lavish shopping spree with a visit to The Italian Centre, the city’s Italian designer quarter, with the UK’s first Prada store and a few gorgeous pavement café’s to relax in after all that retail therapy on your hen party in Glasgow.
Forget the high street for a moment (although the high street offerings in Brighton’s shopping centre, Churchill Square, are excellent). Shopping in Brighton however, is all about the bohemian and historic vibes it has to offer. Here you’ll find an incredible array of independent designers, stylish café’s, antiques, jewellery, specialist hats, vintage treasures, bric-a-brac and innovative boutiques. Whatever you do, don’t come shopping in Brighton on your hen weekend with an agenda – it’s the cream of the browsing crop. The North and South Lanes are famous for being an eclectic maze in which to spend a fantastic day with your hens window shopping in their chic boutiques and hunting for one of a kind pieces in the abundance of vintage shops. The Lanes are also a haven for craft shops, gorgeous coffee shops and unique eco-products.
