Would you wreck your own hen do?

That’s the idea behind ‘Bad Bridesmaid’, a new TV show which will launch this Thursday.

Six brides-to be will go head-to-head to win a luxurious honeymoon. All they have to do is wind up their bridesmaids by allowing a wild comedy character to cause mischief and mayhem on the hen weekend.

In the first episode of the new series, bride-to-be Becky is about to embark on a fun hen weekend with cousin Hannah, close friend Nicola, work colleague Tash and best mate Claire.  Over four days Becky will need to convince her mates that the flamboyantly over the top Francesca, a PR/singer songwriter is a friend of her mum’s whose joined the celebrations at the last minute.

But Francesca, played by comedienne Anna Morris, sets about riling the other maids as she attempts to become the official wedding planner, unleashing a host of ridiculous suggestions for the big day.  For Becky to win the honeymoon she must go along with Francesca, much to the shock of her long time friends.

Claire Zolkwer, commissioning editor for  Comedy Entertainment at ITV, said the outrageous characters, dubbed Bad Bridesmaids, are concocted by a host of fresh comedy talent. Each Bad Bridesmaid is a unique creation, specially written and tailor made for each bride-to-be and her hens. They know exactly what buttons to press to ensure sparks fly.

She said: “Hen weekends always throw up unexpected guests that no one knows – whether it’s your mum’s bonkers friend, your fiancé’s oddball cousin or that weird work colleague who invites themselves along. ITV2 are tapping into this real world phenomenon to bring you a comedy series that’ll change the way you look at hen dos forever.

“Our Bad Bridesmaids will be making things anything but easy for our brides-to-be as she attempts to put her unique spin on every aspect of the hen weekend – and the upcoming nuptials!

“Across four days of fun hen do activities she’ll begin to meddle with the bride’s plans making ludicrous suggestions to change everything from the wedding speeches to the first dance, the vows to the order of service and of course the bridesmaids dresses are high on her agenda – get ready for an explosive and hilarious rollercoaster ride as drama unfolds and sparks fly

“Can the brides hold their nerve and go along with everything their Bad Bridesmaid throws at them to secure their dream honeymoon as their hen weekend descends into chaos.

“You’ll never look at that stranger on a hen weekend the same way ever again, who knows they might just be your Bad Bridesmaid!”
