Bridesmaids had most of us in stitches, with an intelligently witty and well acted script from Kristen Wiig, so it seems like a very brave move to release a film so similar and so soon after its success.
Bachelorette however, is not jumping on the bandwagon of the success 0f Bridesmaids as it’s based on a play which precedes it. The American comedy film both written and directed by Lesly Headland is due for release in September and we’ve got high hopes for it, if only for the fact that it’s produced by Will Ferrell, one of the funniest American actors around, as well as Adam Mckay who co-wrote Anchorman with Ferrell.
The plot follows a similar formula to Bridesmaids in that, well, it’s all about a bachelorette party however, Bachelorette looks like it will be less sentimental and more controversial, similar to the stag do in The Hangover. Three friends played by Isla Fisher, Kirsten Dunst and Lizzy Caplan, are chosen as bridesmaids by Becky played by Rebel Wilson, an old friend from high school whom they used to tease and who they can’t believe is marrying before them. The three bridesmaids are unsatisfied with the tame hen party which Becky wants so they go in search of some late night debauchery…the night before the wedding. It has a great cast but it remains to be seen if it can impress in the wake of Bridesmaids…
