In celebration of this year’s Henley Royal Regatta, taking place 28th June – 2nd July, we’ve put together the perfect Henley style hen-do ideas, inspired by the fabulous rowing festivities.
Watching the races at Henley, you’re likely to spot teams from top universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard and Yale. If, for you, the Regatta is about the races rather than the other festivities, why not get out on the water yourself with a punting hen-do. Red7 offer various options in idyllic Cambridge, or Oxford which is approx. a 30-minute journey from Henley-on-Thames itself, with the choice of a chauffeured or the more risky self-guided tours for the more daring hen.
Afternoon tea is an English classic perfect for every Hen, and a slight twist on the traditional regatta picnic. Indulge your taste buds with various sandwiches, cream cakes and scones, in destinations around England. Our London Afternoon Teas are approx. 40miles from Henley-on-Thames, and we even offer The Ritz as a choice of venue, perfect for treating yourself to a touch of refinery.
There’s simply something about water and boats that make people want to party, and The River Thames and Henley Royal Regatta are no exception to this rule. Take inspiration from the riverside revellers, and with Red7s help include a party boat in your hen. Cardiff offers a great disco boat ride with nibbles to help soak up some of that alcohol, or go all out with York’s party boat, offering a full BBQ. Get involved.
If the English weather is good to us over the regatta period, we’ll be treating ourselves to a glass or two of vino under the summer sun (although let’s face it, we’ll be doing this if it’s not too). For your hen do, why not raise a glass with the girls with a wine tasting? Head to Brighton or London for a great wine tasting experience, or a champagne tasting session if you fancy upgrading to the bubbles! Sample reds and whites, learn about the history and discover which types of wine compliment different dishes for your future recipes!
Every regatta regular will recognise the famous Mahiki Pina Colada Pineapples, which are a staple of the event. If you don’t fancy the queues though, why not learn how to make your own with a cocktail making experience? Get the girls together and experiment with a variety of cocktails at one of Red7s many cocktail making sessions around England.
