A vibrant and young city, Cardiff is THE place to be for a weekend of celebrations with your mates. So in celebration of St David’s Day, we’ve handpicked the best hotspots for your stay in Cardiff.
It’s all in the name; for a glam night out this club is where it’s at. With a stylish chill out area, two bars and a huge dance floor overlooked by the DJ booth, this is one of Cardiff’s most sophisticated venues to cater to all music tastes, playing a mix of RnB, hip hop, house and electro. Hire a private booth or even better, the VIP lounge, which has a private bar and has been host to the likes of Tinie Tempah, Danny Dyer and Oasis.
Fancy a little nostalgia? Primarily focused on putting on 90’s nights, Retro is a great night out if you like your old school classics! Set on three levels, there’s a great atmosphere and you’re likely to end up throwing some serious shapes. Knock back cheap drinks and make your way to the dancefloor.
Pop World (previously Flares) is the ideal club for those big groups with partygoers from every generation – top cheese to suit everyone. Playing party tunes from the good old days of the 70s, 80s and 90s and right in the city centre, you’ll probably have a least one song from this night stuck in your head for the rest of the week…
Tiger Tiger is another place catering to a group of different tastes. It has a HUGE bar area, a 70s style disco room to boogie in, a tiki room for some amazing cocktails, a restaurant for those hungry before the real fun begins and here comes the best bit… KARAOKE!! (These get snapped up quickly so make sure to book in advance.) For those looking to feel like a VIP on a special night out, with Red7 you can even book your own booth with £100 worth of drinks. Sounds like a great start before hitting the dancefloor if you ask us!
Pryzm is one of the biggest clubs in Cardiff, with 3 club arenas and a luxurious VIP suite. This is the place to be on a big night out, and it plays all the latest tunes in the charts. Live like a VIP and get a booth with champagne and vodka for you and your friends to really party in style.
Soda caters for everyone, whether it’s laid back drinks, quiz sessions, late night dancing or the place to see top DJs play. With three levels to choose from, you’ll find music satisfy all tastes and some delicious cocktails to try too.
DC is the latest Super Club to hit Cardiff. Here you can drink, dance and party to your hearts content. An excellent venue with amazing light and sound shows, this club is not to be missed. Make sure you get Night Club entry before you head down here though, so you’re not left in the cold queueing!
One of the most impressive venues in Cardiff is The Vaults, which is located in an actual bank vault! The bank closed in 1999 and has now been completely renovated to serve Cardiff’s party scene. Separated into three parts: a main techno room, a funky house room, and the bank area itself which has been turned into a chill out room, this place has a huge sound system and lots of lasers create the ultimate party night.
In an underground cellar, Metros is Cardiff’s and potentially Wales’ most popular alternative club. Bang in the city centre, this little gem offers an eclectic choice of nights, mainly focused on alternative music from indie to drum and bass along with a cool, casual vibe. If the super clubs don’t appeal to you then Metros certainly will!
