We love a night out with a few classic cocktails here at Red7, but we know that a night on the tiles wearing a pair of learner plates isn’t right for every hen.
So we send our travel experts, who you’ll speak to as you plan your big night or weekend, on real hen and stag experiences so they know from day one whether it’s the do for you.
Here’s what Lauren and Charli thought of our team trip to a cocktail making class in Brighton:
“A massive perk of my job is ‘educational trips’, so we can talk to our customers about our own experiences, and check that it’s going to work for them. So one Tuesday evening after work, me and nine colleagues took a cocktail making class at Vodka Revolution in Brighton.”
“I love a good night out and a good cocktail. You name it I’ll drink it!
“So on the night of our class we all rushed out of work like we were on our very own hen night, and hit Vodka Revs right by the seafront. It’s easy to find so even when you stumble out a couple of hours later, you will always find your way.
“We got taken to a back room where we all sat around a bar with a bartender, and handed a strawberry woo woo cocktail. I was loving this already…”
“At this point we were asked to write our ‘porn star name’ on name badges and read them out, which was a bit awkward in front of our manager, until he came out with something much worse!”
“We watched a few demonstrations and did taste tests of the most popular cocktails – a mojito, cosmo and the chocoholics dream of a MISSISSIPPI MUDSLIDE. I can’t even describe how good this was. To top it off they gave us some nibbly bits to compliment the cocktails.”
“I’m usually the girl who wouldn’t say no to a drink, but this time I chose to make virgin cocktails and experience what it’s like for girls who can’t drink through pregnancy, or if they are allergic or on a detox. I’m often asked about this by groups, as it can put a spanner in the works for non-drinkers, but have no fear, there is a great alternative for you within this experience if you’re not drinking.
“Although you’re not trying the alcoholic drinks, there is still the chance to get involved with everything going on and the mocktails are amazing. My personal favourite and one I’d say you have to try is the Asian Spritzer.
“By this point I was feeling a bit tipsy and very impressed. I thought we would just be sat like lemons watching some guy behind a bar!) It got even better when the bartender handed us a menu and said we will be making our own cocktails!
“Now I have never been behind a bar before and already feeling rather tipsy I had a feeling this could end in disaster. But the bartender is next to you telling you how to hold the bottles, how many shots to put in, how to hold the shaker and how to present the cocktails. There’s a lot more than I thought to making cocktails.
“Next we got split into two teams and basically had a cocktail-making relay. One of us would pour the ice, one would pour the shot in… this is where it got competitive. The losing team got a disgusting black pepper shot and the winning team got a gorgeous salted caramel popcorn shot. Happy days!
“After all the excitement – and maybe to soak up the alcohol – we were taken back to the front of the bar and served pizza and nibbles. The atmosphere was really cool, with people just chilling having drinks and even a live band playing in the background. What a perfect way to end a fun evening!”
“The games, banter and party platters combined in this night out make it one of our most popular experiences for a reason. I would highly recommend this to any group as it is not just fun, but it’s great if you don’t know a few of the girls and need some sort of ice breaker to start the night. The main experience itself is not to be taken too seriously! Have fun with it!”
