Bath is a beautiful Georgian city, overflowing with culture, sophistication and charm. Hen parties will feel like they’ve stepped into history – the entire city of Bath has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll along the Avon canal and River Avon, see Putney Bridge, voted the world’s most picturesque, and indulge in some excellent boutique shopping, before retiring to a chic bar or pavement cafe. Thermae Bath Spa is the UK’s only natural thermal spa, sourced from mineral-rich geothermal springs, situated on an outdoor roof terrace with stunning views of the city, including breathtaking 7th century Bath Abbey.

This is a spa retreat like no other. Hen parties looking for the ultimate relaxing weekend in gorgeous historic surroundings, will fall in love with everything Bath has to offer. Bask in the English charm of the Georgian architecture, treat the bride to indulgent spa treatments, and enjoy some seriously stylish partying.

Located in Somerset in the Southwest it can be easily reached by car and train from across the UK. Journeys from London, Bristol and Birmingham take under 2 hours, 4 hours from Leeds and Manchester and 5 hours from Newcastle. It’s over 6 hours from Edinburgh, but hens can fly to Bristol in 1 hour.

The Roman Baths (not the same as the Thermae Bath Spa) are an incredibly preserved glimpse into the history of the Roman public bathing houses with it’s dramatic, regal stone pillars, including the Sacred Spring, the Temple of Sulis Minerva and a museum of Roman artefacts thrown into the Sacred Spring in dedication to the goddess.

The most essential experience on a hen weekend in Bath, is a visit to the one-of-a-kind Thermae Bath Spa. The Thermae Bath Spa is an award-winning contemporary revival of the 2000 year old Roman bathing tradition. Relax in the warm, rejuvenating mineral water, catch up with the girls in the aromatic steam rooms, and treat the bride and bridesmaids to spa treatments such as facials, hot stone therapy, body wraps or a state of the art Vichy rainforest shower. You’re guaranteed to be glowing for the wedding.

Exploring the architectural and cultural wonders is a must-do in Bath, from the Roman Baths, the enormous Royal Crescent Georgian house to the fascinating museums and galleries, not to mention the waterside pubs. A treasure hunt around the city is an ideal way to discover Bath’s charming offerings. The girls will follow clues, win prizes and stop off for drinks along the way for a fun afternoon with a difference. Another hen party activity available in Bath is an enormous range of fun dance lessons. Learn new moves for the wedding, give the bridesmaids a laugh, and get a workout at the same time.

Bath may look quaint on the surface, but the city’s nightlife packs a sophisticated and stylish punch. The traditional pubs which line the rivers and pretty streets have a classy edge to them, catering for Bath’s upmarket clientele. For Bath’s exciting bohemian side, head to George Street to find amazing subterranean cocktail bars and gorgeous garden terraces.

The cocktails here are decadent and expertly made – try the absinthe ones to start your hen night off on the right foot, or even a group cocktail masterclass to gain some useful mixology techniques. The comedy clubs in Bath are also a first rate start to the evening, especially topped off with priority nightclub entry.
