Anything and everything goes in Amsterdam. Your hen do in the Dutch capital can have as much partying, sightseeing and delicious food as you can handle. And then some. There’s so much to see and do in Mokum (that’s what the locals call their city), making it the perfect hen do option for the activity-loving hen.

Head to one of Amsterdam’s coffee shops for a spot of breakfast, before you hop on a bike like a true local for a spin around the city. There are plenty of lively spots to get the celebrations started early. Or, if you’re after something a bit more sophisticated, the museums, markets and more are oozing with culture – and there are some amazing spots for adding to your Insta feed. We want to help you make the most of your Amsterdam hen do, so we’ve put together some unmissable activities to make your planning a bit easier.

DAY 1

Morning

Goedemorgen. Amsterdam is at your fingertips from your city-centre apartment. Get the girls together and stroll into town for some authentic Dutch coffee and breakfast delicacies – the perfect way to wake yourself up for the day ahead.

Dignita Vondelpark

This quaint, not-for-profit café is the perfect place to get a taste of Amsterdam. Dignita Vondelpark won’t be as packed as many city-centre restaurants, so you can sit and enjoy a delicious breakfast in your own time, before heading out to make the most of your first day. Amsterdam is famous for its incredible pancakes, and Dignita is no different – your stack comes with salted caramel mascarpone, banana and more. The all-day brunch café cooks all your breaky faves to perfection, with eggs, salmon and bacon washed down perfectly with coffee and orange juice.

Bike ride and Vondelpark

Want to live like a local? You need to hop on a bike – it’s how everyone gets around in Amsterdam! Hire a bike and enjoy all the freedom of riding around the city, stopping off at iconic city spots like the Herengracht canal and Dam Square. Your group’s bikes come with locks, so you can take pit stops wherever you like, whether it’s at one of the city’s coffee shops, or a spontaneous break to get a spectacular view. And make sure to cycle up to Central Library – where you can climb to the 7th floor for a breath-taking view of the city.

Pack a picnic and head towards Amsterdam’s Vondelpark. The beautiful park is ideal for a gentle bike ride, or sitting by the lake for a spot of lunch. Visit in the spring to catch the park in all its beauty and discover its green open lawns and colourful flowers in full bloom. In the summer there’s even a free open-air festival in the park, for an authentic taste of Dutch culture.

Afternoon

A morning of sightseeing can be tiring – enjoy a relaxing lunch in one of the city’s restaurants, and head back out feeling brand new. The excitement is already growing for your first night in Amsterdam, so take it easy with a chilled afternoon of sightseeing.

Tassenmuseum

A must-visit for fashion lovers, Tassenmuseum is not your typical museum. One of the world’s most famous fashion museums, the Tassenmuseum showcases over 5,000 bags, including iconic accessories worn by women throughout history. Finish the afternoon with an elegant high tea – your group gets a posh selection of teas, coffees and finger sandwiches to line your stomach as you switch from avid sightseers to full-on party mode.

Private canal boat tour with drinks

Get an unrivalled view of the city from the luxury of your own private canal boat. You’ve spent the morning cycling, so it’s time to kick back on a canal boat tour around Amsterdam. You and the girls are welcomed with free beer, wine and soft drinks that just keep on flowing as you cruise through the city. Avoid the bikes and busy streets, and see all the iconic sights of Amsterdam on a private canal boat, where it’s just you and your best girls. The party starts here.

Night

The time has come for your first girl’s night out in Amsterdam. Dancers, cocktail-lovers, shot-takers and music connoisseurs unite – this city has something for everyone. Kick-off the weekend’s celebrations at the amazing ice bar… and see where the night takes you.

Ice bar

The coolest place to host your pre-drinks. After spending a long day out and about on the streets of Amsterdam, you’ll want to celebrate with a couple of chilled drinks. And you’ve come to the right place. Enjoy half an hour in a mesmerising ice bar, where each of your group will get to drink from a glass made of ice. You’ll be wrapped up warm before you enter, so feel free to wear your going-out clothes, so you can head out straight after to continue the night.

Guided bar crawl

The iconic party city is bursting with pubs, clubs and bars – so don’t just settle for one. Head out on an organised bar crawl with a guide who knows how to have a good time. Explore Amsterdam’s buzzing nightlife on a tour of up to four bars – where you’ll get a free shot in true party fashion. Don’t waste time in dull or empty bars – make the most of your knowledgeable guide and follow the good times across the city. You’ll never be far from the next bar, so wear your favourite heels.

DAY 2

Morning

Hopefully your head isn’t pounding too badly – but if it is, you’re in luck. Coffee shops, breakfast diners and Holland’s famous stroopwafels are the perfect hangover cure. Keep it chilled this morning with a wander around the city.

Waterloopein flea market

Pack a day’s shopping into a casual market visit. The Waterloopein flea market gets you feeling like a true Mokummer with an eclectic mix of clothes, toys, antiques and more from local sellers. Pick up a hen do souvenir, and if you’re lucky, you might find that dream dress for your night out on the town later. Visit the market in the morning to make sure you experience all the vendors and don’t miss out on that special find.

Tuk tuk tour of the city

An unforgettable way to experience Amsterdam. Head off on a tour of the Dutch capital in a Tuk Tuk (an electric rikshaw). Live the life of luxury with a pickup from your hotel doorstep, so you can get out of bed and hop straight into your quirky ride. Get to see the top tourist spots of Amsterdam without moving a muscle on a Tuk Tuk tour – which truly caters to hungover heads who still want to experience the amazing city. You’ll see so much of the city on your one-hour tour, and the Tuk Tuk also provides a fantastic photo op!

Afternoon

After taking the morning at your pace, you and the girls will be desperate to make the most of your last afternoon in Amsterdam. Sample some local food and head to the centre to soak up everything the famous city has to offer.

Cheese tasting

There’s nothing quite like a cheese and wine evening with your girls. Your sophisticated tasting session includes six different cheeses, perfectly complemented by three wines. You’ll learn to fully appreciate the tastes and textures of vino with your personal wine expert – and it’s a great way to get your night started.

Stenen Hoofd

Spend an unforgettable evening under the stars feeling like a fully-fledged Amsterdammer. Stenen Hoofd is a picturesque pier, which becomes even more beautiful as the sun goes down. Pack a towel and a bottle of prosecco, and make sure to head down early to get the perfect spot. If you’re lucky enough to visit during the Pluk de Nacht film festival, you can enjoy a magical outdoor movie – don’t forget the popcorn!

Night

The celebrations are in full swing for your last night in Amsterdam. Raise a toast to the bride-to-be, and to an unforgettable hen holiday, and head out on the town.

Drag show

Fans of Ru Paul’s Drag Race will love the live drag queen show. Hilarious and truly unforgettable, the drag queen party will have you laughing until it hurts. A delicious three-course dinner is provided, and probably needed as you and the girls get the wine flowing. Make-up, dazzling outfits and endless laughs – what more could you want for a special hen do night out?!

Guest list night club entry

You’ve only got one night left, so make every moment count by skipping the queue and heading straight to the dancefloor at one of Amsterdam’s famous nightclubs. Nowhere comes close to the Dutch capital for nightlife – so it’s a night-out worthy of your celebrations. Located in the lively Leidesplein area, there’s plenty of takeaways to satisfy your early morning cravings after you fall out of the club… in style, of course. Anything goes in Amsterdam, so bring out your best moves and get the champagne in for one last blow-out.
