What is a ‘Sten’ party?

A “sten” party is when the bride-to-be and the groom-to-be choose to celebrate their pre-marital do together, therefore creating a joint stag and hen party. This has also been known as a “hag” party however, it’s not the greatest sounding term… Sten parties are growing in popularity, and they don’t just have to refer to a bride & groom either. This celebration is equally as fun for joint hen & hen dos or stag & stag parties too, so there’s no reason not to get involved!

Is a ‘Sten’ right for you?

If you like doing the same things and you share a friendship group then breaking from tradition might be the perfect option for you. However, if your friends are quite separate and the things you consider fun couldn’t be more opposite then perhaps it’s not a great idea. Think about the motivation for having one; is it because you think it would actually be more fun to celebrate with them? If so, then this is a great reason to join forces!

What should you organise?

If you’re into the same things you’ll probably find this an easy decision to make. However, you’ll need to consider what everyone else in the group will enjoy as it’s about them having a good time too i.e. choosing cupcake could result in a no show from some of the guys and a lap dance club may not appeal to the girls!

Jokes aside, if you can’t agree on an activity that you’re both happy with then arranging a separate activity during the daytime and joining up in the evening or vice versa, ensures you’ll get the best of both worlds!

There are plenty of great stag and hen party ideas which will work for both genders though, and to give you some inspiration here is our top 3.
