If you like your festivals sunny side up, then it’s time you ditched the muddy wellies and sorry camping chairs and took the party to warmer climes. The UK may be famous for it’s summer festivals, but in 2014 the trend for travelling abroad for festivals is on the rise. Festivals abroad have sunshine, big name acts and  stunning scenery ranging from the beach and mountains to the heart of a cool European city.

They are relatively cheaper, even with flights and feature a refreshing lack of mud, rain, dodgy burger vans, queuing for hours down the motorway and wannabe Gallaghers in oversized parkas. Hooray for overseas festivals!

We’ve compiled a useful guide to the biggest and best festivals abroad in 2014.

But be quick: Hideout Croatia, Dimensions Croatia, Coachella and Primavera Barcelona already sold out.

Where?  Boom, Belgium

When? 18-20th and 25th-27th July 2014

Line up: Erol Alkan, Diplo, Eric Prydz, Netsky, Tiesto, Steve Angello, Armin Van Buuren, Above and Beyond

Vibe: Tomorrowland is one of the biggest dance festivals in Europe, with young dance fans travelling from all over the world for two weekends of raving in the magical Tomorrowland arena. Although the festival is truly massive, the atmosphere is amazing, with a focus on the ‘global village’ and dreamlike wonderland set up created for the international festival-goers.

How much? From 88 euros.

Vibe: Benicassim festival is celebrating it’s 20th birthday this year, so we predict big things from Spain’s largest festival. The acts are a brilliant mix of electro, indie and chart acts performing for a young, mainly student crowd. Bringing a festival like this to the White Isle was a stroke of genius.
