Birmingham Hen Weekends

The second largest city in Britain, Birmingham is a top pick for a hen weekend city break in the UK. This West Midlands city was once known as the “Workshop of the World” however, now the city's warehouses and working canals have been renovated to create a modern and exciting city to visit. As well as theatres, art galleries, restaurants and bars, there are some great shopping opportunities in Birmingham, especially at the rather impressive and futuristic looking Bullring shopping centre.

About Birmingham

If you and your fellow hens like curries then you're in for a treat as Birmingham supposedly invented the Balti curry in 1977 and has an area dedicated to the spicy dish, the Balti Triangle, with over 50 Indian restaurants. Of course if you're not into curry then there are plenty of other restaurants to choose from with Birmingham's very own Chinatown as well as a variety of other restaurants offering typical British cuisine.

Brummies also love a good party, and for this the best nightlife can be found around Broad Street which is heaving with partygoers at the weekend. There are often international DJs at the clubs in Birmingham too, and The Custard Factory is especially worth checking out as it hosts renowned Drum and Bass nights as well as live bands. For more of a sophisticated hen night out though, Brindleyplace is situated along the canal and undoubtedly the prettiest area in Birmingham where you'll find lovely chic canal side bars and pubs.

Indulge yourself ladies! Birmingham is the home of Cadbury's and Bourneville, the home of UK chocolate! Take a visit to Cadbury World and then follow that up with a chocolate making lesson.

Birmingham was once the centre for British jewellery making and the city's jewellery quarter is definitely worth a visit. There are jewellery shops galore and museums including one which is based around a perfectly preserved jewellery workshop!
