About Birmingham

You can expect a very warm welcome in Birmingham, a city beating at the heart of the country with a quiet confidence like no other. We’re a hotbed of culture that's rich and diverse. With a passionate identity grounded in a history of can-doers and enriched by the innovators of today. A down-to-earth bunch with a story ingrained in the spirit of its people, heritage and evolving skyline.

If you and your fellow hens like curries then you're in for a treat as Birmingham supposedly invented the Balti curry in 1977 and has an area dedicated to the spicy dish, the Balti Triangle, with over 50 Indian restaurants. Of course if you're not into curry then there are plenty of other restaurants to choose from with Birmingham's very own Chinatown as well as a variety of other restaurants offering typical British cuisine. Once you've fuelled up the whole group on the hen do, Birmingham offers more spice with a spot of nude drawing, salsa dancing or Bubble 'Mayhen' football to get the blood pumping. If you're more into pampering than pumping on your hen party, Birmingham has plenty of relaxing retreats. Treat the girls to a health club spa day with lunch and bubbly, then continue the champagne treatment with a private cocktail masterclass. Once your creative juices are flowing a perfume making session is a sweet idea, or spice up your life by recording a pop song.

Brummies also love a good party, and for this the best nightlife can be found around Broad Street which is heaving with party-goers at the weekend. There are often international DJs at the clubs in Birmingham too, and The Custard Factory is especially worth checking out as it hosts renowned Drum and Bass nights as well as live bands. For more of a sophisticated hen night out though, Brindleyplace is situated along the canal and undoubtedly the prettiest area in Birmingham where you'll find lovely chic canal side bars and pubs.

Getting to Birmingham

Birmingham is incredibly easy to reach. Right in the centre of England, it’s well-connected by road, rail and air.

By Rail

There are three city centre rail stations providing fast and frequent connections to both local and national destinations.

Birmingham New Street Station is at the hub of the National Rail network with fast and frequent services to London’s Euston station and many other major towns and cities across the UK. Services to London Marylebone are served by Birmingham Moor Street (next to the Bullring) and Birmingham Snow Hill (in the Colmore Business District). All 3 stations are well served by bus or parking facilities.

Birmingham International Station sits right alongside Birmingham Airport and the National Exhibition Centre; providing a ten-minute direct link to the city centre for air passengers.

West Midland Trains operate two railway brands for and to the Midlands, the North West and London - West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway.

By Road

All roads lead to Birmingham - well almost. It’s certainly an easy place to drive to no matter where you’re coming from.

Set at the heart of the UK motorway network, it’s linked by the M5, M6, M40 and M42 while the A34 and A38 further add to your options and the M1 is less than 30 minutes away. The M6 Toll Road adds another choice (while also helping to keep through traffic away from city centre at peak times).

By Air

Birmingham Airport is a global travel hub - yet only 10 minutes from the city centre. With great transport links and a wide business and leisure route network, it’s the perfect gateway to the Birmingham region and beyond.
