Reading rocks. But there's more than just a world-class music festival to enjoy. Follow the Thames 30 miles from London and you'll reach the university town of Reading. It's all about the river and history: there are rowers, boaters and blazers, and all that charming Englishness. Yet, because it's surrounded by countryside, it's a perfect spot for action sports and great for hens who like a little rough and tumble. There's plenty of pubs, alongside the more modern clubs - follow Blagrave Street from the station, you can't miss them. And return for the summer festival, when the town fills with rock chicks.
