Chester Hen Weekends

Within Chester’s medieval and Roman walls lies all a girl could want for a great hen weekend. There are dozens of higgledy-piggledy lanes lined with boutiques, gorgeous riverside restaurants and bars, department stores stacked with designer, beauty and fashion brands and fantastic, friendly late night clubs. For 700 years there have been shops in Chester so this city has pretty much perfected the art of retail therapy these days. The uneven tiered galleries of stores, known as The Rows, span out from The Cross area and are packed with high street names, designer outlets, teashops, cafes and craft boutiques. Ladies who like a flutter might also like to head down to the Roodee, Britain’s oldest race course, where the odds are you’ll have a ball. As night falls, the staggering array of restaurant choices means you’re just as likely to be trying Teppenyaki as munching on moules but wherever you go, make sure you head for The Cross once you’ve eaten. This is where Chester’s young and beautiful converge for the myriad of bars and clubs that radiate out from this central point. For the best late night clubs, all you need to do is follow the sound of the beats to Watergate Street and Eastgate Street where late licences mean the partying goes on through to the early hours.
