We’re sure that a lot of you guys have been growing your moustashe’s for the good cause of Movember. We’re also sure that there will be a fair few girlfriends and wives that will be happy to see them go!

As an official licensed partner of Movember, Spitfire Premium Kentish Ale will be holding The Great Shave on Thursday 1st December at Groom and Co. barber’s in our very own city of Brighton so, you can either sadly or gladly rid of your moustache. Or, if you’ve grown rather attached to it (or it to you!) then they are offering free moustache styling trims too.

The hot towel shave or styling trim is complimentary and on top of that, Spitfire are giving away a free bottle of their new limited edition Premium Kentish Ale with a mini moustache on the label!

Movember is a global charity that aims to raise awareness for men’s health issues, especially prostate cancer and has successfully raised £106 million to date by men. Now that’s impressive!

If you’re not from Brighton but still fancy a shave or trim plus, a free bottle of ale, then many other barbers across the country offering a free bottle of Spitfire with a a shave or style. Check out http://www.facebook.com/spitfireale for more information and for their end of Movember competition.

Also, if you’re out on a stag do at any point soon then it’s not too late to contribute to raising money for Movember. Until mid-December, you’ll still be able to buy a bottle of the limited edition Spitfire which is available in supermarkets, or get a pint in at any of the pubs across the UK.

You’ll be doing a good deed by drinking for a good cause – it doesn’t get much easier than that!

We were gutted when Lewis and Nicole announced their break up after four years together – so too was Hamilton judging by his dip in form – but what’s this…? A possible reunion on the cards?

Hamilton is quoted as saying ‘It’s very early days and we still have very strong feelings for one another. I still love her very much.”

And there’s more! He’s been spotted wearing a set of rosary beads given to him by Nicole during a recent visit to LA. “It was a really positive few days which meant more to me than a race win. I came away from LA feeling great.”

Aw! Here’s hoping they get things back on track. And sharpish.

And could Peter Andre be on track for I’m a Celeb… wife number 2? It was eight years ago when he and Katie Price found love in the jungle and now he’s set to return to the show, saying ‘The last time, I came here single, I ended up walking out and getting married. This time I’m going to try and stay single.’ Word has it however that he’s already enquired whether Emily Scott is dating.

We watch. We wait…

What would you do if you were on a stag weekend abroad, on your way home, and your airline demanded £20,000 from you and your fellow passengers before departing?

Some would think it’s a joke, others would be enraged. This week this happened to Comtel Air passengers travelling from Amritsar, India to Birmingham when the plane stopped to refuel in Vienna. Asked to speak of this bizarre event the Civil Aviation Authority thought it was, “unusual to say the least”, which gives the word ‘restraint’ a whole new meaning.

The Comtel Air flight was already running several days late when it stopped in Vienna. Passengers were then told they had to raise £20,000 between them otherwise they would not be returning home, one of the air hostesses was recorded saying, “If you want to go to Birmingham, you have to pay. We can’t do anything else”. The flight of 180 passengers had to fork out an extra £130 per person (children under 2 were exempt) to reach the total.

Flying with an airline, such as Comtel Air, is technically considered public transport. Would it not be the most ridiculous scenario if on your way to work, your commute was halted and you weren’t allowed off until everyone emptied their pockets?!

Comtel Air claims they had no choice but to demand money from their passengers as certain travel agents had not forwarded payments of the ticket fares made by those passengers. The travel agents say they had forwarded the money. The CAA are now helping hundreds of Comtel Air passengers get home due to this fiasco.

This story certainly paints a very different picture to that of the glamorous age of air travel as portrayed in the brand new American TV series Pan Am, which aired last Wednesday on BBC2.

Airlines have no obligation to provide financial protection for their passengers. If any issues arise it is up to the customer to get themselves to their destination, in some cases that means buying another ticket. Those that booked their flights as part of a package deal with Comtel Air are covered by ATOL (Air Travel Organisers’ Licence), an aviation authority designed to protect air travellers. This means they will get their money back from the CAA for their flight home. Those who booked their flight separately, may not be entitled to this cover.

If you were thinking of having a hen party abroad make sure you are fully covered. The Air Inclusive Packages and Flights available through Redseven are ATOL protected. When you book an overseas package holiday operated by Redseven, your payment is financially protected by the the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), under ATOL number 3802. This means that should the unexpected happen, you won’t be left stranded abroad or out of pocket.

Consider our revolutionary flight inclusive packages like our Marbella Purely Party Weekend which takes care of everything you need, removing all the stress and hassle from a great weekend.

With Manchester being one of the top destinations of the north, there’s plenty to see and do there however, its music that the city prides itself on.

During the 1980s and 1990s, the city developed its own music scene – “Madchester” brought on by big bands like Stone Roses, New Order and Happy Mondays which mixed alternative rock, pyschedelic rock and dance. The famous Hacienda club assisted this movement putting on some of the best gigs in Manchesters musical history.

The effect of Madchester has stayed in the city with hundreds of clubs and specific nights put on which makes Manchester one of the most exciting cities to visit for a hen or stag do. Have a look here for a selection of the best;

K2

One for the ladies on a Manchester hen do, this is perfect for Karaoke as the club holds 31 karaoke booths over two floors and each are individually designed. With private waiters and an extensive cocktail list, this is the perfect hen party idea. Sing your socks off and then head into the retro neon club to dance the night away.

The Warehouse Project

One of the biggest club nights in Manchester, this club is located under Picadilly train station and has housed some of the biggest names in the city. They have put on everything from drum and bass to house to indie music with names like De La Soul, David Guetta and Groove Armada.

The Deaf Institute

This is a venue worth checking out just for it’s decor and atmosphere with its high ceiling, skylights and red and black theme. Above the main room is a glass balcony which gives a good view of the dance floor and the largest mirror ball in Manchester! Music wise, this is for lovers of live music gigs.

Blackdog Ballroom

Situated in the Northern Quarter of Manchester, this club is perfectly located so that you can get there easily after having a few drinks in the bars nearby. This is one for the guys on a stag do in Manchester as there’s multiple pool tables plus, live local and international DJ’s on till the early hours.

Sankeys

If electronic music is your thing then this is the venue to hear it. Voted the number one spot in DJ MAG’s “Top 100 Clubs” in 2010, Sankeys has put on top DJ’s in the past including Daft Punk and The Chemical Brothers.

Nicest bloke on the telly, Oirish funnyman Dermot O’Leary, has popped the question to his long-term GF Dee Koppang. Yay! The couple have been together nine years and earlier this year bought a £3.5m house in North London together. When asked why he took so long to propose he replied ‘Well you don’t want to rush these things.’ Well said Mr O.

Blimey, that was quick. Replica gowns of Bella’s ‘Twilight’ wedding dress are now on sale at Alfred Angelo. The Carolina Herrera original would have cost around $6k (£3,835) but for a mere $799 (£510) you can now own an exact copy of the dress complete with 100 buttons down the back. And if you’re wondering how much the Cullen/Swan nuptials would have cost, Centives has done the number crunching. The answer is $38,000 (£24,289) which when amortised over the whole of eternity forever and ever doesn’t strike us as too toppy.

Vogue has just published pictures of Lauren Bush’s wedding to David Lauren. Beneath her hand-embroidered Ralph Lauren gown the bride wore blue socks with cowboy boots. (Yes you did read that right. Yes we’re confused too). Mighty handsome couple though…

Thanks to the reality TV show The Only Way Is Essex, the once unknown suburban town is now up there with the top, especially for ladies choosing somewhere to go for their hen party.

Brentwood high street in particular seems to be booming with business with hen parties visiting Sugar Hut, the TOWIE cast’s favourite club as featured on the TV show and lining up for manicures and spray tans at Minnie’s Boutique which also features on the TV programme.

The show hasn’t only seen more visitors to Brentwood but it’s increased interest for Essex with VisitEngland recently having written a guide to the top places to visit in Essex, the Essex Tourist Guide having seen an increase of traffic to their site and Ellie Constantatou from Visit Essex stating of TOWIE that;

“It has certainly raised awareness of Essex…”

So ladies, if you’re organising your hen do and fancy a guaranteed good time then check out our specially made Essex packages including Essex Is The Only Way where you and your friends can get a tan like Lauren’s, have perfectly manicured nails and party in the Sugar Hut Club!

Menfolk of the land, rejoice, for she-of-the-pert-bottom is a free agent once more. Pippa Middleton has called time on her three year relationship with broker boyf Alex Loudon after a series of blazing rows, one of which apparently kicked off at a friend’s wedding (NB not stylish).

Some suggest that the cause of the breakup is Loudon’s apparent discomfort with Middleton’s meteoric rise to global superstardom. It’s well documented that he prefers to stay out of the limelight and always keeps a distinctly low profile when they’re out and about.

Pippa apparently turned to her big sister for a shoulder to cry on and was spotted out and about yesterday wearing a black coat, dark shades and a very sad face indeed.

Totes gutted, but looking on the bright side we can now speculate wildly as to who she should marry. Prince Harry…? Former flame George Percy? Pierre Sarkozy (French president’s son)?

What say you fair readers?

Many of us will have to call upon the Foreign Office for advice or help at some stage in our lives, whether it is because we’ve lost our passport whilst on holiday or stag weekend abroad, or if we’ve been involved in an accident whilst away. More people than you would think however, call upon the FO for strange and quite ridiculous personal requests, a recent one being a call to the Spanish consulate asking for Prince Charles’s shoe size so they could send him a pair of shoes as a present.

Today, the FO have revealed some of these requests in the hope that it will inform people (or embarrass a fair few fools!) as to what they can help with and what they can’t.

Earlier this year, a consulate was set up in Malaga to filter the calls coming in to make sure that only the valid calls were transferred. However, it seems that people still have very little idea of what can and can’t be done with hundreds of personal calls being made for requests that range from a woman asking the Malaga consulate where she could book a Christmas dinner as everywhere she had called was already booked up, to a call to the Sydney consulate from a man asking what he should pack for his holiday and another to the Spanish consulate from someone asking for Phil Collins’ phone number.

Our favourite is a man who called up the British consulate and asked if they could find a dominatrix that had stranded him at the airport!

Consular Affairs Minister Jason Browne said;

“Our priority is to help people in real difficulty abroad and we cannot do this if our time is diverted by people trying to use us as a concierge service…We need to be able to focus primarily on helping victims of serious crimes, supporting people who have been detained or assisting people who have lost a loved one abroad.”

So, next time you’re wondering who you can call to get Mick Jagger’s phone number or to find out what you should eat for dinner that night, it’s worth having a look on the Foreign Office site to see what they’re actually capable of helping you with, which by the way, is none of the above.

Some cities seem to get overlooked for their better known neighbouring cities which often steal the limelight. However, with so many destinations to choose from, why go for the obvious?

The capital city of Wales, Cardiff is a great city to visit and with the good humour of the Welsh, you will be welcomed with open arms. For those of you into your rugby or football, a Cardiff stag do is ideal, being home to the renowned Millennium Stadium. With a capacity of 74,500 it is the third largest stadium in the Six Nations Championship and as well as the national Welsh rugby team games, occasionally they hold Welsh national football team games there too.

A UNESCO world heritage city, a Bath hen do is perfect for those looking for a classy weekend. The stunning architecture of The Royal Crescent and Pulteney Bridge along with their trademark Roman spa’s, the Somerset city of Bath has everything you could want for a relaxing hen party. With five theatres, there’s always some great shows on to catch in the evening after a bite to eat and before heading out for the night to some of Bath’s top cocktail or wine bars.

Alternatively, if you fancy getting away without the expenses of going too far abroad or having to tackle any language barriers, then a Dublin stag weekend will not disappoint. Unbeatable for its friendly and kind people, the capital of Ireland has everything you could possible want for a stag do with hundreds of decent pubs offering a never ending selection of ales and of course the best Guinness you’ll ever taste.
